Inscription reads: "I do hope you have some good
news & I am Pleased to say I am feeling fine & I am
Staying another week. Now what do you think of my
photo. With Love from Alf & Anne, Best Love From
Your ever Loving Ma"
Abraham
Lyons (aka Alf) was one of Elsie's sons, with whom
Elsie was obviously staying when she wrote this.
Anne was Alf's wife.
|
Elsie
was born in London in 1874, but was brought up in
Leeds. In 1896, she defied her parents and
married Isaiah (aka Dick) Lyons and moved to London.
Her large family moved en masse to Leicester at
the outbreak of World
War II, and she died there in
1945.

This
photo was probably taken in London to celebrate the
birth of Henry Lyons, although
Elsie
and Dick would have three further children after
him, making a total of 12.
